THANK YOU.

The month of JULY was an extremely busy month and for me to sit down, write to you, and talk about what happen on feels AMAZING!

First off, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for those who came to support my sister, Pagnia and my booth at the Hmong Sports Tournament in St. Paul, MN! It was my first time selling any of my designs and it was totally worth it. It felt wonderful to physically meet and greet with people from all over the world!!!

"While I was walking, an elder Hmong male stopped me, pointed to my t-shirt and, wanted to know where I got it. I pointed him to my booth. Haha!"

With my t-shirts hanging outside the booth, I received so many kind compliments and they all warmed my heart! Numerous Hmong elders came and touch my designs and it was surreal. While I was walking, an elder Hmong male stopped me, pointed at my t-shirt and, wanted to know where I got it. I pointed him to my booth. Haha!

It was very special weekend.

I did not expect Hmong elders to love my designs and for that, I am happy to know that I created an item that everyone and anyone desired, respected, and connected with.  It felt so good to see people have a connection with the t-shirts.

So, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

After a year's worth of making the t-shirt possible, I decided to take a trip out to the Southwest and FREE MY MIND AND SOUL. There, I discovered: Las Vegas, Zion National Park, Antelope Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend in Arizona and Utah. It was a road trip of a lifetime with my best friends from childhood and teenage years. This trip ended my July weekend perfectly. <3

Moreover, have you see this?

Mom

Mom

There's actually a sweet and funny story attached to it. My mom has been looking for some of her best friends ever since she left Laos in late 1970s. Magically, through odd connections with my brother's girlfriend and Facebook, my mom and one of best friends finally reconnected! My whole family is super happy for her. Early this year, she had another friend who recently passed away as well so to find another of her best friends in the States, this was a very happy time for her.

With this re-connection of friendship, my mom demanded me to "fix it" her photos. It's sweet because they found each other again. It's funny because my mom always asks me to do odd jobs for her and I usually say, "No," but this time, she was on top of it.

A Conversation:

Me: Mom, do you want color too? Mom: Ehhh, can you put color into it? Dad: Ehhh, can you put color into it? Me: I think so. Mom & Dad: Put color into it.

(And then she adds a list of things she wants for prints, where to print it and then, asks if I have any other projects that she's apart of and if I want to share it with her, haha!)

Mom: Okay, ua tsaug rau txhua yam!! Txhua, txhua yammmm! (she exaggerates this) Me: Haha, bye, Mom.

I hope you got a kick out of this. When she got a hold on her images, I heard she was super happy and that makes me happy too. <3

Before I go, I wanted to show you guys my latest digitalized custom portrait I created for my sister as well. <3 If you want your own personal portrait, click the photo to my etsy shop!

Stay awesome! See ya soon!

It's late.

No seriously, it's late, late. Everything is late but I also think there's a reason for everything to fall where it should. Like everything happens for a reason but exactly when it’s supposed to.

So, here I am. *GRINS*

I will be releasing a new clothing product come April! I have a lot of ideas and plans but to execute, prepare, and launch is harder done than said. I mention in my last post new things were coming in February? (SOME DID!) but like I said, it's late.

So currently, I've been working with Adobe Aftereffects (video editing program) and it has been fun! Here are two of my latest projects! Take a look!

This second video was very hard to complete. In 2013, I really didn't know anything about my dad's past because I never thought to ask. So during July 4th, 2013, I had time off and flew back to Wisconsin. I asked my dad for an interview about his life journey and he said yes. An hour after his interview, his life journey was an eye opener. I learned so many things that I never would have known if I didn't asked. From his personal thoughts, heartbreak, adolescence, family, war, arrival in America, and marriage, I was able to understand him a lot better. This teaser is just a preview of the Menu page. The film will not be released to the public.

This post is very short but I really wanted to put something in for March Madness.

Lastly, check out an illustration request I drew! Get yours here: http://etsy.me/1HAPLGo

Before I go, I encourage YOU to ask your family members about their life journey so far and record it. It's a dream of mine to record more family members but as of now, I can't touch it just yet. :)

See you in April or sooner!
